I was advised by my solicitor that, to avoid an IHT investigation, I should contact a qualified RICS valuer, to carry out a probate valuation of all the contents of my late father's property, but had no idea where to start. I called Jeffrey Avery and Associates and they arranged for a valuer to visit the property, and within a week I received a full written probate valuation report which was subsequently accepted by HMRC without problems.

I would not hesitate to recommend this service to anyone in the same situation.

Some interesting facts about Hersham

According to George Greenwood book "Hersham in Surrey," published by Elmbridge Council in 1986, which we quote: Hersham began as a strip of woodland beside the River Mole. It was occupied by prehistoric flint tools which were been found in large numbers near the river on Southwood Manor Farm (KT12 4BJ Burhill Road) These date mainly from the Stone Age. Somewhere around 200 BC Hugh a defensive wall was built over St. George Hill (actually in Hersham, Weybridge, but the postal area), probably as a refuge camp against the attackers coming up the valley of the River Thames. What could have been calculated at all indicates a relatively large population in District, a leader of a kind, organized labor and the risk may be desperate to reproduce. Bronze and Iron Age tombs were found on the slopes of the hill, which was clearly a function of some importance in antiquity.

Anglo-Saxons seem to have been the first permanent settlers here. They gave the name of the place. In the 12th century, was written and will probably be given Haverichesham Haeferick Hamlet. By the contraction of the name comes Haverisham, Haversham and possibly Harsham or Hersham.
