Some interesting facts about Farnborough

Farnborough is a town in northeast Hampshire, England, and the district of Rushmoor. Farnborough was founded in the Saxon times and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The name is formed from Ferneberga which means "Fern Hill".

The city is perhaps best known as one of the aviation industry - Farnborough Airshow, Farnborough airfield and air accidents Investigation Branch.

Change name: Ferneberga (11 century); Farnburghe, Farenberg (13 century); Farnborowe, Fremborough, Fameborough (16 century).

Tower Hill, Cove: There is considerable evidence that several years ago a large accumulation of SARS stone existed in what became known as "Tower Hill". Even today, more than 1,000 of these stones back, the size of a loaf or two tons in size, spread, reusable for many different purposes, but still short of their probable site of origin.

The city is home to St. Michael's Abbey. The Imperial Crypt is a resting place of Napoleon III (1808-1873), Emperor of France, and his wife, Eugenie de Montijo (1826-1920), and their son, Louis Napoleon, Prince Imperial. Crypt of the Old Church of St. Petersburg is also believed to house many of the accounts left of Anglesey. Since 2007, the monastery is the seat of the Catholic National Library.

River Blackwater in Hampshire / Surrey border was the scene of the fight between the first international award Tom Sayers and John C. Heenan, which took place near where the pub The Ship Inn.

Participate actively in the Farnborough airfield, which lies between Fleet and Farnborough, Samuel Franklin Cody. Cody Cody Col or Sam, as he was known, was one of the pioneers of aviation. He died when his plane crashed on the hill of the ball, a site that is now in the technological park of QinetiQ.

Farnborough airfield is the site of the royal establishment historic aircraft (RAE). Sir Frank Whittle conducted much of his research on the jets of RAE. Gloster E.28/39 a replica (based on the prototype) is located on a roundabout route along tively in honor of its inventor.

Napoleon III, his wife Empress Eugenie and her son Louis Napoleon is buried in the crypt of the Abbey of Saint-Michel. Paul Weller, David Mellor, Nigel Farage and Anne Robinson all went to school in Farnborough. Current Middlesex County Cricket Club captain Shaun Udal, who played for New Hampshire and England international, was born and raised here.

Arthur English has lived in Farnborough. Fernand Cabrol and became a monk learned before and later the abbot of the Benedictine abbey.

In 1922, TE Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) was assigned to RAF Farnborough for a photography class, it is believed he lived in Farnborough for six weeks.

Belgian filmmaker Robbe De Hert, was born in Farnborough in 1942.

Farnborough is located near the North East Hampshire and Surrey border. Blackwater River side of the border. It is located 34 miles (55 km) south-west of London and 16 miles (26 km) east of Basingstoke, directly south of junction 4 of the M3. The city lies at the heart of the Blackwater Valley conurbation, including Aldershot, Camberley, Yateley, Sandhurst, Frimley and Farnham.

Farnborough sized towns incorporated as it has expanded several, including Cove and Southwood, both of which are now considered suburbs. It is located near the garrison town of Aldershot in the south and north Frimley. Based on the city council is the local government district of Rushmoor. The district has a district status and also covers near Aldershot.
