Wood Green is a suburb north of London, England, located in the London Borough of Haringey. It is located 6.7 miles (10.8 km) north of Charing Cross. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of the metropolitan centers of Greater London.

In the second half of the 19th century and before urbanization Wood Green was part of Tottenham and covered by forests called Tottenham Wood, hence the original name of the region, Tottenham Wood Green.

In 1894, Wood Green was created as a district, and later a municipal town in Middlesex. In 1965, the London Government Act 1963, was the municipal district of Wood Green abolished and merged with its area of the municipal district of Tottenham and Municipal Borough of Hornsey to form today's London Borough of Haringey .

Choice Wood Green Circle was established in 1918 and existed until 1983 when it was divided. Some of the district was transferred to the seat next to Tottenham, has been mostly merged to form parliamentary constituency Hornsey Hornsey and Wood Green constituency. Since 2005, the seat has been represented in the House by Liberal MP, Lynne Featherstone.
