Some interesting facts about Stanmore Middlesex

The area was recorded in the Domesday Book as Stan Plus, the name derives from "stony" Old English Stan and simple, "a pool". There are outcrops of gravel on the clay here and just maybe was one of the ponds which still exist. In 1574 the area had become known as Stanmore the Great to distinguish it from Little Stanmore.

Stanmore Village railway station was opened to rail traffic between 1890 and 1952. Stanmore tube station was opened in 1932.

Stanmore had a transplant out of Bletchley Park code breaking establishment where some of the bombs used to decode German Enigma messages in the Second World War has been lodged.

Stanmore is also the home of RAF Bentley Priory, where the Battle of Britain was controlled, also a former RAF Stanmore Park, Command HQ ball. RAF Stanmore Park closed in 1997 and is now a residential and RAF Bentley Priory closed in 2009.

The first church was of 14th century Santa Maria, built in place of a wooden Saxon church, which was probably built on the site compitum Roman sanctuary.

This building was replaced by a new building for the present site was opened in 1632 and dedicated to John the Evangelist. Its ruins still stand near the church, which opened in 1850.

Suburbia is a large number of small restaurants and cafes, a number of public houses, many unique shops, as a natural medicine store and clothing boutique-style shops. Stanmore is dominated by the central presence of a large Sainsbury's supermarket and a large supermarket Lidl. Even popular restaurants such as price and Caffè Nero is in the center of the city. Stanmore large residential areas are mainly green leaf and rich, with many residents commuting daily jobs in Central London and the city.

Stanmore Park is located at the foot of Stanmore Hill and adjacent to the local library. This is just one of two areas of outdoor recreation, the second of Whitchurch playgrounds near Whitchurch First and Middle School and across from Stan Burn First and Middle School. Equal Sunday hosted many football matches on large quantities of peat, which are marked in football with individual target frames respectively.

Located on the borders of Stanmore and Bushey Stanmore Cricket Club is one of the oldest in Middlesex County League Championship in 2003 celebrating 150 years and remains a success today. The club has fed two famous cricketers who have had evidence from England in the last two decades, Angus Fraser and Mark Ramprakash.

Stanmore is home to Stanmore College (board of directors continues to school) and the local library and manages the London Borough of Harrow. North London Collegiate, one of the best public schools in Stanmore. Suburban also organized the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital - known as RNOH - which is famous for its spinal unit.

Stanmore was rich, Christian, Shiite Muslim, Hindu, Jain, Jewish and Catholic communities, as the local synagogue, Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue in London by road (which has the largest membership of any single synagogue in Europe), a KSIMC London Islamic Centre (Hujjat) and Wood Lane new Hindu temple.
