Leytonstone is an area of east London and part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It is a high density suburban area, located seven miles north east of Charing Cross in the ceremonial county of Greater London and the historic county of Essex. It borders Walthamstow to the northwest, Wanstead (in the London Borough of Redbridge) to the north, Leyton to the south, and Forest Gate (in the London Borough of Newham) to the east.

The main street in Leytonstone, Leytonstone High Road, which runs along Leytonstone to Stratford is an ancient road dating from pre-Roman times. Roman archaeological features found in the region.

Name Leytonstone - Leyton beginning of documents, Atte-Stone - can be caused by large stone stands at the crossroads Holly Bush Hill, New Wanstead, the obelisk of the 18th century has been installed on it, and it has been argued which is still a Roman milestone.

The earliest known cartographic reference Leytonstone, dating back to 1545. It was part of Essex until 1965.

For the eastern part of Leytonstone is Private Lake House, which until its recent inclusion in the London Borough of Redbridge has also been considered as belonging to the [1].

Leytonstone was the center of the protests against the construction of the M11 link road in 1990. Protesters final position was held in Claremont Road, Leytonstone and ended with the forced eviction of the protesters in 1994.

Leytonstone was part of the former parish of Leyton in Essex Becontree percent. For ecclesiastical purposes it constituted a separate parish from 1845. [2] Leyton parish was part of West Ham Poor Law Union. In 1894, became part of the Leyton Urban District, which was incorporated in 1926 as the Municipal Borough of Leyton. Leytonstone is part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest in 1965 after the creation of Greater London.

The area is part of the Leyton and Wanstead constituency.

Leytonstone High Road is a Roman copy from London to Epping Forest. This route has become a major long distance bus in the 14th century. [2] In 1960, there was a problem in the congested streets in Leytonstone [3], the problem will continue one way today. [4] 1990 M11 link road was built through the area, even if the protest of local and long-life protesters on the road. This and other protests that led to the policy of the Conservative Party of roads to prosperity, was rejected. [5]

Leytonstone tube station is at the center line of the London Underground.
