Some interesting facts about Bagshot

Recent excavations have shown that colonies of Bagshot dating as far back as pre-Roman before the excavations was thought that the first settlements in Bagshot came too late Saxon. Bronze Age settlements have been identified in the region and the cast iron seems to have been a big "industry" in the region. Bagshot was a royal hunting lodge safely through time Stuart and Tudor, now known as Bagshot Park and now lives in Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

In the Elizabethan era (late 16th century) Bagshot prosper because of its position on the main London West Country Road (The Great West Road, now classified as A30). Like many villages on main roads coaching inns Bagshot developed services to provide care to passengers and to provide coaches with teams of fresh horses. The prosperity of the Great West Road has generated its share of highway robbers, one of the most famous, William Davis, a local farmer who lived near what is known locally as the roundabout Jolly Farmer . He was eventually taken to White Hart Inn in Bagshot and was subsequently hanged. Not one to avoid suspicion that he has always paid its debts in gold! It was after him that the pub was called the Golden Farmer. After lengthy discussions at the Golden Farmer (now the Jolly Farmer) has been overturned, it was finally sold to U.S. Golf Discount Store.

Burger King was planning to build a fast food restaurant there, but was subsequently withdrawn because the roundabout was considered too dangerous and was near Collingwood School.

Bagshot has five churches: the Church of England (St. Anne), Roman Catholic (Christ the King) Methodist, Evangelical (Brook Church) and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Eglise Sainte-Anne is 120 years old and was built in a neo-Gothic style under the patronage of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, who lived at nearby Bagshot Park. This is a red brick building with stone detail under a slate roof. There is a belfry with a peal of eight bells. It is a listed building and is in a conservation area.

Bagshot has two multi-purpose sports fields and a cricket field.

Curley Park Rangers Football Club youth meet regularly and play on land in both light water and Bagshot. CPR clubhouse is located at height Bagshot.

White Hart Royals football team at White Hart pub in the village of Bagshot, participate in Camberley and District Sunday Football League.

Bagshot Cricket Club runs a number of adults and under 16 teams and complete the Thames Valley League, the League of Three Provinces and Youth League West Surrey.

Bagshot Tennis Club has four tennis and golf teams in the league Woking.

Swinley Forest, which borders the north Bagshot, offers some of the best mountain biking in southeast England, with many one off-road 'track available as well as many forest roads. ATV is allowed with a permit and walk free. Swinley Woods was considered a place for ATV 2012 Olympics.

Other clubs and organizations shall be in Concert Band Bagshot, Surrey Heath Archaeology and Heritage Trust, Bagshot Gymnastics Club, Camberley and Bagshot Metal Detecting Club and the local sections of the Scouts, the Royal Air Forces Association and the Women's Institute. It 'also a short walk from the National Clay Shooting Centre Bisley, and shooting ranges.

Bagshot library is located in High Street and also offers a standard library and history "Rhymetimes" to the local community for the child.

Penny Hill Park Hotel is located in the extreme western edge of Bagshot is where the train England rugby team. Bagshot Park, home of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, is located on the northern outskirts of the city. A30 Bagshot leaving south-west of Cambrai has a large roundabout at the Jolly Farmer has called for a public house used to stand in the center.

Local administrative area, Surrey Heath, for the most conservative area, and it was a Conservative Prime Minister in the last 50 years. Bagshot itself, however, is represented by two Liberal Democrat and a conservative District Supervisor.
