Some interesting facts about Hainault, Essex

Hainault is an area in the London Borough of Redbridge in north east London. It is a suburban development located 12.2 miles (19.6 km) north east of Charing Cross. The area is split between the Chigwell and Ilford post towns in the IG postcode area.

The area is part of the Metropolitan Green Belt and the suburb of Hainault is bordered on the east by Hainault Forest Country Park, by open land to the north and the boundary with the Epping Forest district of Essex.

Hainaut name was registered as "Hyneholt" in 1239, and means "forest of the monastery". There is no link with the wife of King Edward III to Philippa of Hainault, if the current spelling may have been affected in the form of folk etymology.

Hainaut given only within the Ilford Urban District of Essex, , almost on the border Chigwell Urban District. In 1965, the entire Ilford Urban District, along with the 81-acre (0.3 km2) from Chigwell Urban District was transferred to the nearby Hainault London Borough of Redbridge, Greater London, together with other sectors, such as Wanstead and Woodford, and that part of Dagenham Urban District extends from Hainault Forest. The population had moved to Chigwell in 1961, 7071.

Urban development began August 22, 1856, when the Great Eastern Railway built a line between Stratford and Loughton. From this line in Woodford Junction, in 1903 opened a line cycle in Ilford. Henao is a station on that line.

Although it was hoped that the body would cause the construction of the railway, has been a long time to come. While some of Hainault station was closed in 1908, five years after the start of development began in late 1920, and the role later in 1930. A result of the London Passenger Transport Board for the new work program for 1935-1940 (not completed until 1948, since the Second World War), the line was taken over and converted for use in LNER train station. This time, the suburbs of Hainault was completed.
